What is Lottery funded GA Pre K?
Georgia’s Pre-K Program is a state lottery funded educational program for all age eligible four-year-old children in Georgia. The purpose of Georgia’s Pre-K Program is to prepare children for success in Kindergarten and later school years.
Pre-K programs usually operate on the regular school system calendar for the length of a typical school day. (Sprayberry 2.0 school year calendar closely follows Cobb County Schools calendar, however they may differ slightly.)
All Georgia’s Pre-K Programs are required to provide instruction using the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS). These standards are aligned with the Kindergarten Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. This alignment allows for seamless transition from Pre-K to Kindergarten. Each Georgia’s Pre-K Program is allowed to choose an approved curriculum to assist with delivery of the GELDS. (www.decal.ga.gov/)
